This is wild to me. I was diagnosied with dyslexia at 38 and I always struggled with learning a second language I had to learn Spanish in high school. We were forced to take two years with no alternatives. And in college I had to take a semester of forgien languages. I started with spanish and quickly withdrew because I was struggling again and there was the option of sign language and I thought since I am visual person I might do better. I actually got an A in the class but I still struggled.

I'd hear the sound, I'd try to say it back, and something in between just got deleted. Like my brain took the audio file and corrupted it on the way out. I felt sick every single day. That's the mechanic dyslexia actually messes with. Not accent. Not effort. Sequencing sounds, lining them up, getting them back out your mouth in the right order. That's the part that breaks. And second language class runs on that mechanic nonstop. Nobody tells you that. Not once.
